Michael Jackson, Pop Icon, Is Dead at 50

LOS ANGELES — For his legions of fans, he was the Peter Pan of pop music: the little boy who refused to grow up. But on the verge of another attempted comeback, he is suddenly gone, this time for good. Michael Jackson, whose quintessentially American Tale of celebrity and excess took him from musical boy wonder to global pop superstar to sad figure haunted by lawsuits, paparazzi and failed plastic surgery, was pronounced dead on Thursday afternoon at U.C.L.A. God, makes me feel old when my childhood icons start dying...anyway love him or hate him---you cannot deny he was one of the greats.

I don't get it.Yes he made some music that may rival the Beatles or some other supergroups.But that was in the 80's. Does everyone forget his out of court settlements?Does making music people love give him a pass? I think thats fucked up. Maybe it's just me.

haha...of course he gets a pass...this is America! JFK got a pass for his infidelity as did Clinton. Mel Gibson said he hated Jews, OJ murdered his ex-wife, Paris and Pamela released Sex tapes, Woody Allen married his daughter and Hugh Grant slept with prostitutes. And when these guys kick the bucket, society sweeps their dirty deeds under the ... Read Morecarpet because -just like the 1000's of movies they've seen---they want a happy ending. People prefer to accept fantasy than reality...and that's why Jacko will always be remembered as the King of Pop and not for being "Home Alone" with McCauley Culklin.
